Paying Respects to a Legend

Jonathan Schwark Bio

Ihave always greatly enjoyed movies and appreciated what they can do for us. They can inspire, excite, frighten, enrage, and teach us. They make us laugh and cry, and most of all... they entertain us.

While I am not a fan of "celebrities", I understand the public's infatuation with them. They have the thrill and opportunity to be someone other than themself. They get paid a ridiculus amount of money to portray a hero or villan. They become a character in world beyond our own, and live out an adventure for everyone to talk about for months. They entertain millions of fans and experience things most of us will never even imagine.

It's the combination of my own imagination and desire to achieve the impossible (much like winning the lottery :)... that I've always wanted to be in films myself. Though honestly, it was never for the fame... the money... well, it'd be nice to have "one less thing" to worry about!!!

I am a fan of human potential. When told "that's impossible", I often set out to prove them wrong. I don't believe in limiting myself to other people's doubt or negativity. Before I moved to New Orleans, I am confident many people thought I was insane for seeking a career in films, though I managed to prove them wrong.

While I no longer am "active" in films, I still continue to train and if/when possible audition for future roles. Also in the mean time, I produce my own martial arts/stunts/acting videos if only for the fun and the purpose of training. But for nearly four years, I was active in films, and had the opportunity to see a glimpse of the other side. It had it's good and bad.

My goal was never to be a "celebrity"... too much ego and not enough privacy. As far back as I can remember, my goal was to always own my own martial arts academy, and as a very cool "side-gig"... be an actor! My privacy is important to me, and I always thought it'd be fun to be that guy some people may recognize from somewhere, but not know for sure. Those are the kinds of actors I think have it great.

Now, I am an active part and proud sponsor of Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue, and have what I feel to be a very rare and far more interesting opportunity than acting. I work every week with Tigers, Lions, and Leopards, and any other big cat we rescue from unfit living conditions. I get to educate the public on the need for our rescue, and what they can do to help stop the cruelty towards these great creatures... and of course... I still own my own martial arts academY!!!

I've been in over 25 films, and while my parts didn't put my name in the spotlight, I had a great time meeting the actors and crews who make these movies so great! I was an active part of a great industry (as far as entertainment goes), and if the opportunity arrives again, I will hope to be a part of it someday again. Until then, I stay focused on my academy, my big cats, and my artwork.

Enjoy my website, and maybe I'll see you at the movies!!!
